Cheer Tryout Expectations

Tryout Expectations for the SIUE Competitive Cheer Squad:

       1.       Jumps:  toe touch, pike, front hurdler

       2.       Standing Tumbling:  standing back handspring, toe touch back handspring

       2.       Running Tumbling Pass:  your best running pass at your tumbling level that showcases a variety of skills

       3.       Stunting:  will be evaluated on primary stunting position, including stability and flexibility

       4.       Game Day Section:  includes performance of SIUE Fight Song and Sideline Chants.

       5.       Interview:  collegiate look, confidence, projection, diction, personality

Tryout Expectations for the SIUE Game Day Cheer Squad:

       1.        Jumps:  toe touch, pike, front hurdler

       2.        Tumbling: not required

       3.        Stunting:  will be evaluated on primary stunting position, including stability and flexibility       

       4.        Game Day Section:  includes performance of SIUE Fight Song and Sideline Chants.

       5.        Interview:  collegiate look, confidence, projection, diction, personality

      

Dance Team Tryout Expectations

Tryout Expectations for the SIUE Competitive Dance Team:

       1.       Turns:  right pirouettes (double and triple; quad); turns in second

       2.       Leaps:  right or left leap, leap in second, calypso, turning disc

       3.       Jumps:  toe touch

       4.       Flexibility:  splits; leg hold

       5.       Lyrical/Contemporary Dance Routine and Pom Routine (both taught at tryouts):  memory, correct execution of material,                        strength of motions and control, technique within the routine, showmanship and energy will be evaluated

       6.       Interview:  collegiate look, confidence, projection, diction, personality
